How to get a PPS Number (Personal Public Service Number) in Ireland

The Personal Public Service Number (PPS) in Ireland is equivalent to the Social Security Number in Spain and is essential not only for work, but also for accessing various public services in Ireland. An important detail regarding the PPS application is that, if you start working without having obtained it, the so-called Emergency Taxes will be withheld from your salary, which can reach up to 40% . However, these extraordinary taxes are recovered once the PPS is obtained.

PPS is provided through the Irish Department of Social Protection, you usually keep the same number for life and can be applied for electronically.
